FAQ's1. How does Aquence™ 930™ reduce cost and complexity? Since Aquence 930 requires fewer process steps than traditional coating technologies, there are real and permanent cost-reduction options for manufacturers coating metal components as assemblies. If product designs allow for a coating process that is selective for the substrates that it touches, the use of Aquence 930 can result in lower freight impact, since products can be shipped directly to end users, as well as decreased rack investment and maintenance, lower in-process inventory and indirect labor, and reduced packaging costs. 2. Does Aquence 930 also reduce NSS, cyclic, edge or inside-out corrosion? Yes. Aquence 930 uniformly coats the inside, outside, and edges of complex shapes and tubular structures, thus increasing corrosion resistance on the edges, inside areas, and the most corrosion-prone locations. The uniform coating thickness also eliminates drips, runs, and sags. 3. How does Aquence reduce my assembled part cost? Aquence 930 bonds only to ferrous materials, not plastic or stainless steel. As a result, the product coats a fully assembled part in one step, rather than having to coat the components individually. Plus. Aquence 930 is self-limiting, and won’t overapply to intricate features or moving parts. The flexible production allowed by Aquence 930 means different part shapes/sizes can be processed together. 4. How can using Aquence 930 reduce my company’s environmental footprint? Aquence 930 does not require toxic, heavy metal based pre-treatments, therefore wastewater does not contain chrome, strontium, zinc, manganese and/or nickel. Its best-in-class environmental footprint is further reduced with lower Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) compared to past Autophoretic 900 products, and the elimination of MIBK solvent. Aquence 930 is HAPS free and compliant with RoHS (tested for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and cadmium), ELV and WEEE, as well as all known clean air legislation requirements. 5. How does the performance of Aquence 930 compare to traditional coating methods?
Aquence 930 has been tested to achieve 1000 Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) performance and is equal to or better than traditional coating methods on automotive OEM cyclic corrosion tests. In addition, Aquence 930 has excellent thermal stability, top coat ability and flexibility. Compared to traditional coating methods, the use of Aquence 930 results in less waste, lower capital cost and a reduced environmental footprint. 6. What kind of capital investment is required to switch to Aquence 930? We have a broad network of Aquence Production Centers (APCs) and jobbers that can help with startups and eliminate capital investment. And because the Aquence 930 equipment footprint is much less compared to traditional coating methods, additional cost savings can be achieved.
